Lariche happy to equal best-ever result

3 August 2010

France’s Benjamin Lariche, the only Frenchman in the current Formula 2 field, was highly satisfied to have finished seventh and in the process match his best-ever result in the Czech Republic on Sunday.

After starting 13th and finishing tenth in Saturday’s first race at Brno, Lariche held onto the seventh position he started from in Sunday’s Race 2.

“I improved a lot so it's positive,” he said, having enjoyed a great battle with sixth place finisher and Race 1 winner Nicola de Marco.

“I had a good qualifying with seventh position but in the race I made a bad start and was overtaken by Benjamin Bailly; but after that I had a good fight with Nicola de Marco and it was very difficult to overtake him because he was defending strongly.

“It was great fun and so was the start with Benjamin because we were side-by-side through four corners - it was a fun race, overall.”

F2 is now enjoying a five-week break until Germany’s Oschersleben but, with only a quartet of rounds remaining in 2010, Lariche is confident of racking up more positive finishes.

“I think I can improve further because I made a big mistake at Portimão, when I started fourth,” he began to sum up. “I forgot to push the boost and made a mistake but I've improved now and at the next race my aim is the top six and to further improve my results.”
