Dutchman Kelvin Snoeks moved atop the listings as the second Formula 2 practice session was staged at Oschersleben on Friday afternoon. The Dutchman, who was third fastest this morning, leads the way heading into qualifying from Practice 1 leader Sergey Afanasiev.
With just four races to go in this year’s season including the pair in Germany, 20-year-old Snoeks – who picked up his maiden F2 podium in the first Moroccan race – has raised the bar by just over a tenth of a second, with Britain’s Jack Clarke and Lithuania’s Kazimieras Vasiliauskas locking out the top three.
With Afanasiev falling to fifth behind Ricardo Teixeira, championship leader Jolyon Palmer is sixth but now ahead of championship rival Dean Stoneman, who drops to 11th. One and a half seconds off the leading pace, Bulgarian Plamen Kralev completes the 18-car field.
This weekend’s first F2 qualifying session at Oschersleben begins at 4:15pm local time (BST +1)
