Mansell to start Beaujolais Run at Brands

2 November 2010

1992 World Champion Nigel Mansell will be officially launching the Beaujolais Run at Brands Hatch in two weeks’ time, with the start of the duo cross-country event also being attended by fellow Formula 1 title winner John Surtees and Jonathan Palmer.

The Beaujolais Run has been described by organisers MotorSport Vision as ‘a unique charity driving experience’ which will involve competitors navigating a cryptic checkpoint course from the United Kingdom to Burgundy, France.

This year, those taking part in the event will be celebrating 60 years of Formula 1 as they raise money for recently-formed charity the Henry Surtees Foundation, with John’s son having tragically lost his life in a Formula 2 race at Brands Hatch last year.

With Mansell set to start the Run, the event is once again expected to attract a large selection of teams and vehicles ranging from standard road cars to supercars and, for the first time this year, touring motorbikes.

Waved off by Mansell, teams will complete three laps of Brands’ short Indy circuit before leaving Kent and visiting two more legendary Grand Prix venues – France’s Dijon and Reims – before the event comes to a close amongst Burgundy’s vineyards.
