Palmer hails ‘superb’ 2011 race calendar
4 November 2010 – Formula 2 Series Director Jonathan Palmer is delighted with the provisional Formula 2 race calendar of next year, with motorsport governing body the FIA having revealed the 16-race schedule – which now boasts a raft of Formula 1 venues – on Wednesday.
Kicking off at Silverstone in mid-April, F2 will then head to former F1 home Magny-Cours in France before also visiting Spa, the Nürburgring and Monza before the season comes to a close in Barcelona on 30 October.
“The FIA Formula 2 championship is now well established with its unique proposition providing outstanding performance, equality and reliability at remarkably low cost,” Palmer commented.
“After two successful years we wanted to enhance F2 still further and our superb 2011 calendar now comprises exclusively outstanding circuits including mainly F1 tracks, which our F1-targeting drivers obviously favour.”
