Zanella aiming to beat Bortolotti in qualifying
19 July 2011 – Halfway through this year’s Formula 2 season, Italy’s Mirko Bortolotti tops the standings from Swiss newcomer Christopher Zanella. Heading to Brands Hatch, the latter lies 22 points in arrears and hopes to get on top of his rival’s qualifying pace.
“At the Nürburgring I could only manage a best qualifying position of seventh in both races and, although I made up ground, I need to improve on this if I want to win,” admits 21-year-old Zanella, who hails from Waldshut.
“I would love to beat Bortolotti but he has more experience than me in F2, so it's going to be hard. For sure, Mirko and I are the main contenders in the championship but Monras and Bratt are also catching us and there's still a long way left to go in the series.”
