Bacheta overjoyed about Williams F1 test
3 October 2012 – As a reward for winning this year’s Formula 2 title, Luciano Bacheta will enjoy a Williams Formula 1 test outing at Silverstone in a fortnight's time. The Englishman has dominated the MotorSport Vision-run championship this season and sealed the crown at Monza last weekend.
“It's still sinking in!” he beamed. “The first feeling was just relief and then happiness and then every emotion! I'm still kind of dazed by it all. In the race, as soon as I was past Mathéo (Tuscher) I felt in control from that point on and I just thought, 'Let's have a good race!’ It felt really good and a great way to secure the title.”
Looking on to next year and the Williams test, the 22-year-old continued:
“We've got a few ideas for 2013 but I don't want to say too much just yet. As for the Williams F1 test, this is just insane! I can't believe it and probably won't until I'm actually sat in the car. It's just incredible and I have to say a big thank you to Comma, the rest of my sponsors and everyone who has helped me this season.”
Bacheta has also received praise from Sir Frank Williams.
“I'd like to pass on my personal congratulations to Luciano for winning the F2 title, a feat made all the more impressive by the way he achieved it with an unprecedented four consecutive wins at the start of the season,” the Team Principal declares.
“We look forward to putting him through his paces when he tests with us and I'm sure he will learn a great deal from the experience.”
