Rosenzweig joins Carlin for F3 Euro Series
2 February 2009 – American racer Jake Rosenzweig has signed with Carlin Motorsport for the 2009 F3 Euro Series championship. The 19 year-old former Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup driver will race with the British squad alongside Red Bull's Brendon Hartley.
Rosenzweig's signing with Carlin follows an impressive F3 test with the team, where the young American matched the times of Carlin's British F3 drivers at the Valencia circuit in Spain in December. With the 2009 season now quickly approaching, Rosenzweig will continue his testing programme in March in the Volkswagen powered Carlin Dallara. As well as competing in F3 Euro Series, the young American will also undertake a limited Carrera Cup GP program in the Geek Squad car in 2009.
Speaking about his hopes for the season ahead, Rosenzweig said: "Last year was a good opportunity to familiarise myself with single seater racing in Europe and I'm now looking forward to making the step up to F3 with Carlin. F3 Euro Series is one of the most competitive championships, and the combination of a large amount of testing, an impressive calendar, and a drive with Carlin Motorsport represent a great opportunity at this stage in my career." Rosenzweig is also looking forward to working with Volkswagen adding: "VW is one of the world's most innovative car manufacturers, and their commitment to the engine's performance should bode well for the team."
Team Principal Trevor Carlin added: "Jake came to us for a speculative test at Valencia and we were immediately impressed with his approach and technical understanding. He has the raw pace and talent to be an asset to the team this year, and we look forward to working with him and developing him into a front-running driver. Jake will have a great team mate in the form of Brendon Hartley and I'm sure we can expect some great results from both of them."
