Manor confirms Ramos and Nunes

11 February 2009

Manor Motorsport has confirmed its first two driver signings of 2009 with Brazilian duo Cesar Ramos and Pedro Nunes joining the Yorkshire squad.

Once again planning to run four cars, John Booth's outfit is preparing well ahead of the start of the new championship, which begins relatively late this year, on 16th and 17th May at Hockenheim. Ramos, who is currently 19-years-old, graduates to Formula 3 competition with Manor having competed in Eurocup Formula Renault in 2008 where he finished seventh overall in the driver standings with one podium. The teenager combined his outings in the pan-European series with a full campaign in the Italian Formula Renault Championship. There, he ended the season sixth overall with five podiums, two fastest laps and a brace of pole positions.

Nunes has good experience of Formula 3 racing in his homeland and in 2008 was Vice-Champion of the South American F3 Championship with five wins, 11 podiums and three pole positions. During the preceding two years, Nunes made selected appearances in South American F3 while also racing in Formula Renault, both in Brazil and in Europe. Contesting ten races in the 2007 Eurocup Formula Renault season, he also took part in 10 outings in the Formula Renault Northern European Cup.

Speaking on the deals with Ramos and Nunes, team owner John Booth said: "We're very happy indeed to have signed Cesar and Pedro and we're looking forward to working with them throughout 2009. With both drivers being new to the championship it will be a huge challenge for them but we're preparing well and aiming for a successful season."

Manor's third signing for the 2009 F3 Euroseries will be officially confirmed very shortly.
