Ericsson to make one-off Hockenheim return
21 May 2009 – Marcus Ericsson is all set to make a rare return to the British Formula 3 championship at Hockenheim this year, competing only for the weekend on mainland Europe. Having moved from the series to Japan for this year, the Swedish driver is looking forward to an action packed day of racing in Germany.
"It's a good thing for me to be racing back in Europe," Ericsson, who will be driving for Räikkönen Robertson Racing, told Autosport. "It will be good to learn Hockenheim and it feels really exciting to be driving for Double R; I did a test with them in the winter, now they have Carlos (Huertas) who is a rookie and Daisuke (Nakajima) who is new to Europe and I think they'd like to see how they can do with experience as well - hopefully we can have a good result."
Before the German round of the British championship, however, comes Rockingham at the end of the month although the 18-year-old is looking forward to 7 June. "For now it's just Hockenheim," he continued, enduring that the one-off remains no more than that. "My main focus this year is Japan and I will do my best to try to win the championship, but we'll see how it goes at Hockenheim and, if there is an opportunity to do more, maybe we'll see…"
