Gutierrez on the pace in opening practice at Zandvoort

13 June 2009

Esteban Gutierrez has started his Tango Masters of Formula 3 weekend well. The Mexican ART driver completed the fastest lap in the 30-minute free practice session. He ended just ahead of team-mate Valtteri Botta. Both drivers completed their fastest lap under yellow though.

The Tango Masters of Formula 3 got under way on Saturday morning at Zandvoort, The Netherlands. After seeing the event move to Zolder for the past two years the prestigious event returns to Zandvoort where it organised its first Masters of Formula 3 back in 1991. Back in 1991 the race was won by a certain driver named David Coulthard, while Rubens Barrichello started from pole.

At Zandvoort the ART Grand Prix drivers were well on the pace. Best Briton at Zandvoort was Mucke driver Sam Bird. Bird ended third in the only 30-minute free practice session ahead of this afternoon's qualifying sessions.

Other title candidates such as Jean Karl Vernay, Stefano Coletti, Jules Bianchi and Renger van der Zande ended fourth to seventh respectively.
