F3 Euro Series talent Alexander Sims will be taking part in the International Formula Master series at the Hungaroring this weekend. With the event being part of the support package for the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix, the 21-year-old have been given the opportunity through the IFM Talent Support Programme.
Sims will travel to Budapest to enter the series for the first time this weekend, as are Samuele Buttarelli and Formula Master returnee Earl Bamber. "It fits in perfectly with my F3 campaign this year as I believe the cars are quite similar in performance, which is great," said Englishman Sims. "To be able to learn a new car and a new track is a fantastic opportunity, particularly with it being a support to Formula One.
"I think it will be very interesting for me to compare myself with a new set of drivers in a different environment and I am really looking forward to seeing how we can do this weekend; I will travel to Hungary feeling that a podium would be good result, seeing as I have never driven the car or the circuit before. May I also say a big thank you to IFM for making this opportunity possible for me."
Having entered Formula Master earlier this year but lost his seat after only two rounds, Bamber is also keen to get back on track. "It's a great opportunity to get back into racing with Formula Master," said the New Zealander. "It was a shame to miss the last few rounds; I commentated for the series on Eurosport during the Brands Hatch rounds and I was itching to get back into the car!"
