Formula BMW Champion joins Double R

Formula BMW Champion joins Double R

14 January 2010

Felipe Nasr has been signed up by Räikkönen Robertson Racing for the upcoming season. The Brazilian driver claimed last year's Formula BMW Europe title in only his first full season in single-seater racing.

The 17-year-old talent from Brazilian capital Brasilia started his open wheel career in 2007, with two races in Formula BMW Americas. In 2009, Nasr joined Euro International, winning five times and claiming 14 podium finishes in 16 races. He also joined the team in Formula BMW Pacific for two races and impressed by starting both from pole position before setting two fastest laps en route to a pair of victories.

For 2010, Nasr will join Double R in British F3. Team boss Anthony Hieatt told Autosport: "It's a great coup for the championship. He did some winter testing with us and was more than quick enough, so I should think he'll be extremely strong. He's got two good team-mates to judge himself against and the aim is to be winning races.

"He hasn't got much experience but the championship has 30 races and I think he'll get on top of it pretty quickly."
