ART confirms 3-car line-up

19 February 2010

The ART Grand Prix team has revealed its drivers ahead of the upcoming campaign. Finland's Valtteri Bottas, Williams F1 test driver and winner of last year's Masters of F3 at Zandvoort, will be partnering Britain's Alexander Sims and 17-year-old French newcomer Jim Pla.

With ART striving to retain its strong reputation in the ultra-competitive series this year, Bottas will spearhead the line-up after being confirmed as Williams' official test and reserve pilot at the end of January.

"I want to win races and secure a better championship position than last year," commented the 20-year-old from Nastola, who finished 2009 third overall. "ART Grand Prix provides me with the perfect conditions for realising this goal."

"I'm truly delighted with now being a part of a team as successful as ART Grand Prix," added 21-year-old Londoner Sims, who finished one place behind his younger team-mate last season. "I want to win the title and am aware that my chances of doing so couldn't be better than with ART Grand Prix."

For Pla, 2010 is likely to be very much a learning year alongside two established F3 names. "First of all, I want to learn a lot in my debut season and do a good job," explained the teenager, who hails from Béziers in the south-west of France. "For me, as a rookie, having been signed by ART Grand Prix represents a big honour."
