Cole delighted with National Class success

20 July 2010

James Cole was thrilled to avoid chaos and take the upper hand in the British Formula 3 National Class battle at Rockingham on Sunday, finishing ahead of T-Sport team-mate Menasheh Idafar and retaining class lead in the process.

After first-lap bedlam shook up the field, Brazil’s Felipe Nasr enjoyed overall victory in the third race of the weekend although Cole, continuing his season-long duel with Idafar, was thrilled to have not just won in the National Class but finish seventh outright.

“It was great to be running so closely with the International Class cars and showing that I have the pace to mix with them, despite being in a slower car,” he smiled.

“I kept Idafar behind me and with this eighth win have kept the upper hand, which is really important to me.

“There are only a few points in it, so there’s no room for complacency and I’ll have to work as hard each and every race if I’m to win this title, but that’s always the goal.”

BF3 resumes with its Spa-Francorchamps round in two weekends’ time.
