Sistos joins West-Tec in National Class

11 August 2010

Motul Team West-Tec will return to British F3 at Silverstone this weekend with young Mexican Juan Carlos Sistos taking the wheel of one of the team’s National Class Dallara F307s. Despite being just 18, Juan Carlos has experience in both the Euroseries 3000 and European Open F3 championships, as well as back home in the Americas.

Juan Carlos will drive this weekend at Silversone and at Snetterton on 27-29 August. He will not be able to compete at the final round at Brands Hatch though due to the European Open F3 rounds the week before.

The Corby-based team, which has concentrated on the European F3 Open this year, with great success, will be returning to British F3 for only the second time this season, having primarily committed its cars to testing programmes with other drivers so far this year.

Team founder John Miller said: “JC is a young driver who we believe has a bright future ahead of him. We have watched him with another team in the European F3 Open and he really hasn’t been able to get the results he is capable of.

“Unfortunately he won’t be eligible for the races at Brands Hatch, although it is possible we will run him in an International Class car there as our sponsors want us to run two cars in that International Class next year. For Brands Hatch it may depend on whether we can sort a sensible engine deal in time.

Juan Carlos Sistos commented: “I am very excited by the opportunity to drive with Team West-Tec in British Formula 3. I have seen in the European F3 Open that they are a very good team and I am looking forward to working with them.

“I won’t know the tracks before free practice which is going to make it hard but I am sure we will be able to challenge.”
