Fresh from his Silverstone race win, Adriano Buzaid underlined his stellar late-season form at Snetterton this morning to secure pole position for not only this afternoon’s round of the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series but tomorrow’s third race also. They are the 22-year-old Brazilian’s first poles of the 2010 season.
Buzaid was the only driver in the field to break the 61-second barrier, his Carlin-prepared Dallara-Volkswagen lapping the Norfolk track in 1m 00.948s. His team-mates Jean-Eric Vergne and James Calado made it a Carlin qualifying 1-2-3.
Said Adriano: “James Calado was really quick in testing yesterday so I knew that we would have to work hard to beat him. It all came together for me with my second set of tyres and worked out really well.”
Räikkönen Robertson racer Felipe Nasr was fourth fastest and the leading Mercedes-powered runner, just ahead of his team-mate Daisuke Nakajima and Fortec’s Oli Webb.
Less than a second covered the top 12. T-Sport’s Menasheh Idafar was the quickest of the National class runners, three-tenths clear of his team-mate James Cole.
