Dias secures victory in Race 2 at Snetterton

30 August 2010

Hitech Racing’s Gabriel Dias has won race two of the Cooper Tires British F3 Championship at Snetterton this morning, leading from start-to-finish in the damp, but drying conditions and eventually coming home 0.393 seconds up on Carlin man Adriano Buzaid.

“I said yesterday that we hoped to fight for victory but that was in the dry,” said Dias, after claiming his second win of the season. “However, the car was really good in the wet and it is a great result for the team. It’s amazing to be back on the top step of the podium after the recent luck we have had.

“I had to gamble on tyres at the start and after ten laps, I knew that the guys on slicks were going quicker. I thought they might catch me and take the victory but it is a great to have picked up another win.”

William Buller meanwhile took the final spot on the podium, charging up the order from seventh on the grid and snatching P3 from Raikkonen Robertson Racing’s Daisuke Nakajima on the final lap.

"Another two laps yesterday and I'd have got a win, today I only needed one more lap," said Buller. "However, it is great to be back on the podium as we've had a difficult run recently. I have to say thanks to the team and to everyone around me for working hard to get the result.

"It was tricky at the start when the circuit was still wet but I knew it would come to us as the race went on. Like I said, one more lap and I think I could have got the victory but it is great for the team to finish first and third."

Felipe Nasr was  fifth, more than 2 seconds off his RRR team-mate, followed by Fortec’s Daniel McKenzie and Carlin’s James Calado in sixth and seventh.

Newly crowned Cooper Tires British F3 Champion and Race 1 winner, Jean-Eric Vergne took eighth while Jazeman Jaafar and Max Snegirev rounded out the top ten for Carlin and Fortec respectively.

Menasheh Idafar claimed the National class victory, finishing 18th overall, more than 5 seconds up on his T-Sport team-mate James Cole.
