National Class battle going down to wire

2 September 2010

Although Carlin’s Jean-Eric Vergne may have already been crowded the 2010 British Formula 3 Champion in dominant fashion, the National Class battle continues to rumble on as Britain’s James Cole aims to hunt down Bahraini T-Sport team-mate Menasheh Idafar.

With just one race weekend of three rounds remaining until this year’s championship meets its conclusion, Brands Hatch in Kent will be the deciding venue as Cole, who is currently trailing Idafar by just four points, aims to take back the lead and therefore the crown.

“I always thought the title fight would go to the wire!” said James, who celebrated his 22nd birthday just over a fortnight ago.

We’ve been so evenly matched all season that it was perhaps inevitable.

“There’s plenty of pressure on both myself and Idafar, so it’ll be an exciting conclusion to the year. I’m going to do everything in my power to take the title, so it’s total focus from now to the final race; I’m just concentrating on my fitness, preparing with my engineers and being in peak condition for that final event.

“Bring it on!”
