Van der Zande to join F3 Euro's Motopark Academy
15 September 2010 – It has been confirmed that Holland’s Renger van der Zande, who has endured a dismal year in GP3, has signed up for this weekend’s two Formula 3 Euro Series races at Oschersleben with the Motopark Academy team.
With GP3’s inaugural campaign having come to a close at Monza on Sunday morning, van der Zande described his annoyance with the series although he now hopes for positivity as his season restarts, with a drive in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix also on the cards.
“I’d like to have some fun racing again,” the 24-year-old told GPUpdate.net.
“I’d have to look far to find any fun after that season of GP3; of the sixteen races, most of them ended with technical failures or a lack of power or crashes with silly rivals.
“Only once did I stand on the podium - that's life, but you should watch out that you don't lose the fun of driving.
“So for these last months of the year I'm going for pure racing fun and that fits a temporary comeback in F3 just perfectly; it’s also preparation for the Macau Grand Prix, which I hope to compete in again this year, plus the Korean Super Prix.”
