Huertas joins Champions Carlin for 2011
28 October 2010 – It has been confirmed by British Formula 3 Champions Carlin that Columbia’s Carlos Huertas will be joining the squad for an assault on the title next year. With the outfit having already clinched the crown on no less than six occasions, the 19-year-old moves teams after finishing on the podium four times during the 2010 season.
Huertas drove for Räikkönen Robertson Racing this year, racing to top three results as well as picking up a pole position and fastest lap. He moved to Britain from hometown Bogotá in 2007, the year in which he contested the Formula BMW UK Championship before making his BF3 debut at the age of 17.
“Obviously I am very excited to be with Carlin - they are a very strong team and their record speaks for itself,” he said. "It will be important for me to adapt to my new environment quickly.
"Obviously it will be a new experience for me, having spent the last four years with the same team. I want to learn as much as possible in winter testing and get to know the team ready for the 2011 season."
“We have watched Carlos for many years and raced against him in Formula BMW and Formula 3,” added Team Principal Trevor Carlin.
“He is clearly a very talented driver and I look forward to seeing him in a Carlin car next season. He will bring a great deal of experience to the team and will help make us stronger for the 2011 season.”
