It has been confirmed that Daniel Abt, son of DTM Team Principal Hans- Jürgen, will be racing with Formula 3 Euro Series Champions Signature next year. The 17-year-old from Bavaria will be making the switch from German Formula 3, where he finished second to Tom Dillmann.

Set to celebrate his 18th’s birthday at the start of December, Abt was also the ADAC Formula Masters Champion of 2009 after beginning his racing career in the series one year earlier.

“I'm truly looking forward to this new challenge,” he said. “For several years, now, I have followed the Formula 3 Euro Series held in the DTM support programme and I'm proud of being one of the drivers on its grid for next year.”

“By winning the 2009 ADAC Formula Masters title and finishing runner-up in the ATS Formula 3 Cup this year, Daniel Abt has proven to be one of Germany's fastest motor racing young guns,” added Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen.

“He is ready to make the next step and we are delighted that he remains a member of the Volkswagen family.”
