Felipe Nasr will join Carlin’s line-up for the 2011 Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, the team has confirmed. The 18 year-old, who is already a race winner in the series, had a successful debut year with Räikkönen Robertson Racing.
Indeed while it was only his second season in single-seater racing, the Brazilian put in a consistence performance to finish fifth in the championship standings, claiming two pole positions and four podiums, including a victory at Rockingham.
“I am very excited to be racing in British F3 again next season, especially with Carlin who are clearly the team to beat,” he said.
“I learnt a lot this season in F3 and I want to build on that this year and put together a strong championship campaign.”
“We’re watched Felipe with a lot of interest this year and have been very impressed with his raw talent in his first year of F3,” added Team Principal Trevor Carlin.
“We’ve very pleased to have him in our team for the 2011 season and look forward to seeing what he can achieve with Carlin. I’d imagine that Felipe – alongside some of his team mates – will be a very serious contender for the championship.”
The 2009 Formula BMW Europe champion will get his first taste of Carlin machinery later this month, when he joins his new team for some winter testing in Valencia, Spain.
