Roberto Merhi will be entering the Formula 3 Euro Series with Prema Powerteam this season, focusing solely on the category after combining his efforts with a GP3 programme last year. The young Spaniard made an appearance at the Macau Grand Prix for Prema at the end of 2010, and will be partnering compatriot Daniel Juncadella for the upcoming 27-round season.
Merhi has driven in the F3 Euro Series for two years, finishing seventh with Manor Motorsport in 2009, and claiming one victory en route to fifth place during his campaign with Mücke Motorsport last year. Ahead of the 2011 title-race, Merhi made his intentions clear, and is determined to win the crown for his new team.
"It's a pleasure for me to confirm my relationship with the Team Prema," Merhi stated. "Our efforts during the Macau GP Event proved we can do very well together, and I'm fully committed to do my very best racing season so far.
"Our target is to win the championship: I firmly believe this is possible, despite the very high level of my contenders. I'm working hard to improve my performances through a better training, and I can't wait to drive my car in March."
Team Principal Angelo Rosin added: "I really hoped to keep working with Roberto Mehri, after the great experience we had together at Macau on the last November. We know how much talented he is, after having battled with him as a rival in the past two seasons. He's got fantastic speed skills, and now we are finally able to have him on one of our racecars full-time."
