Fantin eager to impress in 2011

16 March 2011

Pietro Fantin will be embarking on his first full season in the British F3 International Series this year, with the Brazilian fully-focused ahead of the first race at Monza. After making six guest appearances for Hi-Tech Racing last year, Fantin has secured a full-time seat in 2011, and is pleased with the progress he has made in testing so far.

"I can easily qualify my pre-season tests in three words: better than expected! In comparison to last year, my level and skills are much improved," he said.

"My Hitech car seems mega so far and I know that the team will keep working on the set up and small parts to make it even greater for the first race. My learning curve was rising at every single test - I hope it stays like that until the end of the year."

The Curitiba-born man - who progressed straight to British F3 after his karting career - went on to talk about his expectations ahead of the upcoming campaign, and is hoping to surprise the field when racing gets underway on the weekend of April 16-17.

"I went to Monza for a day at the end of 2010 and was amazed with the track – it’s a proper circuit,” Fantin commented. “In the test it rained a lot and but I was still pretty happy with my times compared to the other F3 teams and drivers that were there. I really hope I can do a good job on that first weekend and surprise a lot of people."
