Snetterton reveals new corner names

17 March 2011

MotorSport Vision, headed by former Formula 1 driver Jonathan Palmer and owners of numerous British circuits such as Snetterton, have revealed the corner names of the Norfolk-based venue which has been modernised for 2011.

Snetterton now boasts no less than three track configurations – 100, 200 and 300 – with the third and longest measuring 2.99 miles, meaning it has become the second-longest in the United Kingdom after the Silverstone Grand Prix layout.

From the selection of names which were available to vote for, classic labels Riches, Bomb Hole and Coram have been retained although new tags include Murrays and Brundle after famed television commentators Murray and Martin, Hamilton after the 2008 World Champion, Williams, Palmer and Agostini for the multiple MotoGP title winner.

“These names are going to be around for 30 or 40 years and, bearing in mind I designed this track and we own it, I thought perhaps I'll have one of the corners named after me!” Palmer laughed during an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk.

“It was important to retain the good corners from the original track and the names that went with them."”
