Spaniard Daniel Juncadella has claimed both pole positions for this weekend’s F3 Euro Series rounds at the Nürburgring. Maintaining his pace-setting form of practice, the Prema driver led the way on the timesheets from Mücke’s Nigel Melker.
Juncadella’s best effort replaced provisional pole-sitter Felix Rosenqvist to seal pole for Sunday’s third race of the weekend. With his second best lap just 15 thousandths of a second slower, the top spot for Saturday’s Race 1 was also confirmed.
Melker’s last-gasp attempted allowed the Dutchman to grab a front row slot for Race 3, meaning he will set off from in front of championship leader Roberto Merhi and Rosenqvist. For their second best times, however, it was Merhi who prevailed for the Race 1 grid, meaning he starts ahead of the aforementioned duo.
Marco Wittmann, Merhi’s closest challenger for the title, was out-qualified by team-mate Laurens Vanthoor and could manage no more than a pair of sixth places.
Saturday’s first race begins at 11:15am local time (BST +1)
