British F3 test at Donington Park 22 September 2011

Valtteri Bottas will make a brief return to British Formula 3 as the championship continues at Donington Park this weekend. The Finn, who became GP3 Champion at Monza two weekends ago, will be competing with Double R Racing and joined the pre-event test on Thursday in order to acclimatise at the Leicestershire circuit.

Thursday’s test was headed by Jazeman Jaafar, who led the way for Carlin with a best effort of 1:22.846. Rupert Svendsen-Cook and Kevin Magnussen completed the top three, with Jack Harvey and Champion Felipe Nasr confirming that the first five cars were all Carlin-entered.

Bottas was only seven tenths of a second off the pace and managed seventh place on what was his first attempt in an F3 car since driving for ART Grand Prix in 2009.

Qualifying at Donington begins at 10:40am local time (BST) on Saturday
