Fortec Motorsports has announced that Pipo Derani will be racing with the team for the 2012 British Formula 3 season. The Brazilian will make the switch from Double R, with whom he picked up a best result of second place at Donington Park.
The confirmation comes after what has been described as a ‘successful’ day of testing for the 18-year-old at Monza on Monday.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have Pipo on-board,” says Fortec Team Principal Richard Dutton. “It’s great for us to have a Brazilian driver again; they always show excellent race craft and we’ve had great experiences with Brazilian racers in the past.
“Pipo tested very well at Monza yesterday and impressed across the board, so having him as part of our squad is a very exciting prospect. We’re very much looking forward to working with him and we’re hoping for great things next year.”
This season, Fortec ran with Brazil’s Lucas Foresti, British representatives Will Buller and Harry Tincknell plus Fahmi Illyas of Malaysia.
