Kumho to be replaced as Euro Series tyre supplier

20 October 2011

It has been confirmed by organisers of the F3 Euro Series that Kumho tyres will not be used from 2012 onwards. Following meetings between the two parties, it was agreed that the contract binding Kumho to the championship will not be renewed.

“With Kumho, the Formula 3 Euro Series loses an always loyal partner,” says Walter Mertes, Managing Director of the Formula 3 Euro Series, with Kumho having provided the series since 2003.

“On the other hand, it also gains the partnership with another promising global player of the tyre manufacturing industry. But it speaks for the partnership with Kumho that the parties succeeded in splitting up in amicable fashion. I would like to thank all those involved at Kumho for their always exemplary and cooperative approach.”

Although no deal has been signed with a new tyre company, the Formula 3 Euro Series officially states that contract negotiations are ‘about to be completed’ and that a confirmation will soon be issued.
