This weekend sees Hockenheim play host to the final Formula 3 Euro Series round of the year, with the German venue scene of the final triple header. Although Roberto Merhi may already be Champion, the Prema driver is highly keen to win all three races for the first time.
“My next challenge is Hockenheim,” the 20-year-old from Castellón began to explain to GPUpdate.net. “I want to try and win three races on the same weekend, because I have been really close on many weekends but have never done it. It’s going to be hard; maybe some rain could help me but, anyway, I need to try and do it.”
When asked if a failure to claim all three victories would leave a niggling feeling, Merhi - who tested Arden's GP2 car in Barcelona on Wednesday - admitted:
“I’d be disappointed, yes! I’ve been really close to doing it this year, but in the end it has never worked in Race 3. It’s been so close so many times, like at the Nürburgring when I was fighting with my team-mate (eight tenths of a second behind Daniel Juncadella at the finish)."
Friday’s practice session at Hockenheim begins at 9:50am, with Qualifying to follow from 4:20pm (local time, BST +1).
