Roberto Merhi made it two race victories out of three at Hockenheim this morning, leading home Dutchman Nigel Melker in the final outing of the season. The Spanish driver bounced back from a sluggish start to cross the line ahead of his rivals for the tenth time this year, with Prema team-mate Daniel Juncadella completing the podium.
Despite leading into the first corner, Merhi was promptly overtaken by Felix Roseqnvist at Spitzkehre, with the latter placing his car perfectly to get the job done. However, just one corner later, Merhi returned the favour. The 2011 Champion went around the outside of Rosenqvist with a bold move, prompting the Swede to outbrake himself.
The battle promptly resumed when Rosenqvist recovered, but a mistake at the first corner saw him fly straight into the barriers, ending his victory assault. Behind, Juncadella's podium finish was earned through a plethora of overtaking manoeuvres, with Marco Wittmann and Carlos Sainz Jr. in close company at the finish line.
Germany's Daniel Abt and Motopark driver Jimmy Eriksson led the next train of cars some 20 seconds behind ultimate winner Merhi, while Gianmarco Raimondo, Kimiya Sato and Sandro Zeller completed the top ten finishers.
