2013 British Formula 3 calendar revealed
18 December 2012 – Organisers of the British Formula 3 Championship have released a 26-race calendar for the 2013 season, with the series set to visit at least two current F1 venues. Spread across nine rounds, the campaign starts at Oulton Park before finishing at Donington.
In addition, all three races at each event will now be capped at 30 minutes, with the second race remaining as a reverse grid event. A random draw will determine if the top eight, nine, or ten finishers from the first race are switched around.
There have also been changes made to the category's points system, with races one and three applying a system of: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1. In the reverse grid race, points will be awarded on a basis of: 12, 9, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.5.
Finally, a new 'mini-series' called the British F3 National Invitation trophy has been created for the category's older cars. Points will be handed out to drivers competing in this particular branch of the championship at Pau, Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Spa and the Nürburgring in a bid to appeal to those with smaller budgets.
