Nissany's son steps up to European F3

Nissany's son steps up to European F3

28 January 2013

Roy Nissany, son of ex-Jordan and Minardi Formula 1 test driver Chanoch, will compete in the new European Formula 3 Championship this season. The 18-year-old Israeli has signed an agreement with the German Mücke Motorsport squad.

Nissany senior, who began his career at the age of 38, first tested a Formula 1 car with Jordan in 2004, before moving to Minardi to make his only official appearance. This outing was made in the first free practice session for the 2005 Hungarian Grand Prix, but it ended after just eight laps when he spun into the Turn 4 gravel trap.

As son Roy furthers his motorsport career, those around the second generation driver believe he has the potential to perform at the front of the order, with F3 team boss Peter Mücke commenting: "Roy has all the makings to be a hit in Formula 3."
