British F3 calendar cut to four events

29 January 2013

The British Formula 3 calendar has been cut to just four events in 2013, with teams struggling to attract enough budgeted drivers for the original nine round season.

Series organisers have cited the renewed FIA European Formula 3 Championship as the main reason for the drastic changes, claiming that the category has 'absorbed the commercial resources' of the teams involved as the 2013 campaign approaches.

As a result, Oulton Park, Pau, Snetterton, Paul Ricard and Donington Park will no longer feature on the British F3 calendar. Instead, the season will get underway at Silverstone, before visiting Spa-Francorchamps, Brands Hatch and the Nürburgring.

As has been the tradition in recent years, each event will feature three races, while F3 Open and German F3 cars are now permitted to compete in the National Series.

The modified British F3 calendar is as follows:

Round 1: Silverstone (25-26 May)
Round 2: Spa-Francorchamps (25-27 July)
Round 3: Brands Hatch (10-11 August)
Round 4: Nürburgring (21-22 September)
