Conway Hungary for more

5 August 2007

Mike Conway's hopes of adding to his points tally in the GP2 Series with Super Nova International ended early at the Hungaroring on Saturday in the feature race, when he was involved in an accident at the second corner.

After making a poor start, Conway made up for it by some aggressive passing at the first corner. But just as he was lining up two more cars in the tricky, downhill Turn 2, he ran onto the rubber 'marbles' at the side of the track and spun. As he tried to rejoin, the car stalled and he was out.

"I went to the outside to pass two more cars, as I'd passed a couple already at the first corner, but it was too dirty for the car to cope," said Conway. "With all the marbles after the Formula 1 qualifying, there was just no grip there. I grabbed the clutch and kept the engine running, but it was in third gear so when I tried to rejoin it stalled. It's very disappointing. I'll just have to make up for it tomorrow."
