Telmex Arden drivers hope for better luck on Saturday

8 May 2009

The Telmex Arden International drivers, Sergio Perez and Edoardo Mortara, will have to start Saturday's first race from 11th and 12th on the grid. The duo both felt they could have done better but now hope to show their pace in the first race on Saturday.

Sergio Perez commented on his qualifying session: "It was a shame I didn't complete that final run, because my sector times were good. I made a time-consuming error on the previous lap and was trying to make amends. On the lap when I crashed, I knew I had to push through Turn Nine and the car just got away from me. We have to be positive, however, and push forward for tomorrow's race. Our pace is good so there is definitely an opportunity to score some points."

Edoardo Mortara said about his day: "Free practice was good, even though many of my laps were interrupted by yellow flags. I was third this morning, but that wasn't really representative because I expected some of the experienced drivers to be faster. The car felt good, but this is a difficult circuit and my lap times reflect as much. I ran in the top 10 for most of the qualifying session, but in the end I just slipped back a little after making a mistake on what would otherwise have been my fastest lap. If I get a good start tomorrow, though, a points finish is definitely achievable. It will be a challenge, but I'm hoping for the best so we will see what happens."
