Clos joins Trident for Abu Dhabi
19 January 2010 – The Trident Racing team has confirmed that Spain's Dani Clos will be taking to the wheel of one of its cars as the GP2 Asia Series season bursts back into life in Abu Dhabi next month. Having started at the same venue on the final Formula 1 weekend of 2009, the next meeting for the championship will mark Rounds 3 and 4.
With Clos - a podium finisher in the Main Series of 2009 - joining Trident, the Spaniard will be partnering Bulgaria's Plamen Kralev. The team has added that it will soon be revealing its line-up for the 2010 Main Series campaign.
"We are really happy to have the opportunity to see Dani in one of our cars," explained Maurizio Salvadori, Team Principal and owner of the Trident team. "The first GP2 Asia Series race in November showed Trident to be very competitive and I think Clos is a very fast driver.
"Surely it will not be easy for him to close the gap with the drivers who have already run in Abu Dhabi for two test days and one race weekend but I am confident that Dani will find the right feeling with the car and with our team very quickly."
