Valerio joins Coloni for Main Series

21 January 2010

Brazilian driver Alberto Valerio has joined forces with Scuderia Coloni ahead of the upcoming GP2 Main Series season. The 24-year-old is the first driver to be signed by the Italian team for the 2010 campaign.

In 2009, Valerio claimed his first GP2 race victory with Piquet GP before being offered a day of testing with Coloni at Jerez. In order to become familiar with the team, the 24-year-old will also be racing in the next round of the Asia Series in Abu Dhabi.

"I'm very happy and I want to say thank you to (team boss) Paolo Coloni for the great chance I'm getting," Valerio commented. "2010 will be a key season for the fulfilment of the project I've been working on from when I was a child: becoming a Formula 1 driver.

"I think that Scuderia Coloni is the best team to achieve that and I want to say thank you to all the people that have believed in me in these years of racing."
