Piscopo eyes up Auto GP

26 January 2010

Edoardo Piscopo is considering a move to the new Auto GP championship this season. The former Formula 2 racer, currently competing in the GP2 Asia Series, is in the process of preparing to join the new championship and compete for a prize fund of 1,200,000 euros (just over one million pounds).

After enduring a testing season of F2 to finish 12th overall, the 2008 runner-up of the Italian Formula 3 championship is excited about the upcoming Auto GP campaign. "I'm really looking forward to the start of the championship and I really hope that I'll be on the grid," said the Italy, who will turn 22 on February 4.

"I believe that Auto GP is a great concept, something that fills a gap in the motorsport scenario. Finally, we have a series with a low budget, a huge prize fund, great media exposure, top-notch teams and a really fast car."

As well as his busy motorsport schedule, Edoardo is also heavily occupied away from the pit lane. "I work very hard in the gym, more or less 4 hours a day," he continued, "and then, if that's not enough, I'm studying a lot as I've entered a Business & Marketing degree course in London."
