Having pipped the Rapax of Pastor Maldonado to the top spot by just 15 thousandths of a second, the iSport team was clearly delighted with the day's result although Valsecchi's celebrations were strangely delayed.
"Since the first laps of free practice I've felt the car would be well-balanced for this track and I expected a good qualifying position," he commented after qualifying.
"Then pole position came but I wasn't sure about that because the radio link with my pit wall didn't work and I didn't know if I was ahead Pastor Maldonado or not! It's a good way to start the weekend."
