Pantano preparing for Paul Ricard tyre test

1 September 2010

2008 GP2 Champion Giorgio Pantano continues to play a significant role in the ongoing development programme of next year’s car, which will be a brand-new machine and is set to run for three seasons.

The new car will first be seen for the upcoming GP2 Asia Series, which is currently preparing for its fourth term and as usual will run in what is the Formula 1-GP2 Main Series winter break. Since the shakedown test at France’s Magny-Cours circuit in July, the GP2 technical team continues to fine-tune the car which runs on Pirelli tyres.

Pantano’s latest task will be a 2-day tyre test for the Italian company at Paul Ricard this week.

“I am very pleased that the GP2 Series have asked me to participate in the development of this new car,” he said.

“I will be working very hard with them to try and make this car a success for the next three years.

“I have been quite impressed today with its handling and general behaviour. Its level of reliability is remarkable, too. I have always enjoyed driving GP2 cars - it’s definitely the closest thing to driving a Formula 1 car.”
