Coloni holds on to Parente for Monza

3 September 2010

It has been confirmed by Scuderia Coloni that Álvaro Parente will be retained by the team for the upcoming race weekend at Monza following an impressive return to GP2 last time out in Belgium, where he rose by fourteen places to second in the Saturday Feature Race and then finished third in Sunday’s Sprint Race.

Having competed in GP2 full-time with Ocean Racing Technology in 2009, Parente made his GP2 comeback at Spa but this weekend will continue racing in the Superleague Formula for FC Porto, as he has done since the start of the season.

However, the 25-year-old is naturally delighted to once again be selected as Alberto Valerio's replacement.

“This is a championship that I would have liked to compete in since the beginning of the season but this year it wasn’t possible to do it, so racing again with Coloni again is fantastic,” Álvaro said on Friday.

“This is a great opportunity because GP2 is the series that is most similar to Formula 1, so I’ll try to thank the team with good results. I would also like to thank my sponsors and my fans, who are very supportive for believing in me.”
