Piscopo to make Monza GP2 debut with Trident

3 September 2010

Trident Racing has revealed that Edoardo Piscopo will be making his GP2 Main Series debut by replacing cash-strapped Johnny Cecotto at Monza next weekend. The former Formula 2 driver and current Auto GP series leader first competed with the team in the most recent Asia Series.

Entering the local squad to partner Adrian Zaugg for the penultimate round of the 2010 season, 22-year-old Piscopo is delighted to confirm what has been described by the team as an ‘unexpected’ deal.

“I am pleased to debut with Trident Grand Prix for their home Italian Grand Prix at Monza, a special track for me where in the lower formulae I always finished on the podium,” he said on Friday afternoon.

“I thank my father and the team for making this possible. Obviously the goal is to improve during the weekend and to be able to go places.

“It won’t be easy for me because it’s my debut and the season is drawing to a close, but I will give it my all to achieve my goal.”
