Grosjean to replace recovering Tung again

9 September 2010

It has been confirmed by driver management company Gravity that injured Ho-Pin Tung will still not be able to race at Monza this weekend, having been involved in a first-corner crash with Jules Bianchi in the GP2 Feature Race at the Hungaroring; Franco-Swiss Romain Grosjean therefore competes once again with the DAMS team.

Following a spin for French driver Bianchi, Tung's DAMS was unable to avoid a head-on collision with the ART Grand Prix and therefore missed Sunday's Sprint Race as well as the following meeting at Spa-Francorchamps two weekends ago, replaced by Romain Grosjean.

Doctors have now confirmed that Tung, who picked up a fracture of the lumbar vertebrae, will have to remain on the sidelines for Italy as well.

“I am not at all pleased with the situation, I'd rather be racing, but it's just sensible to follow doctors' orders,” the Dutch-Chinese commented. “I am still wearing the bodice, tailored to me in Budapest - I'm used to it.

“I do almost all my of physical exercises every day, I only have to avoid shocks and too much pressure on my back. I am allowed to travel, so I'll be around at Monza. It's disappointing that my recovery is taking more time than expected.”
