First ever GP3 Champion Esteban Gutiérrez will be remaining with the ART Grand Prix team and progressing to GP2 in 2011, it has been confirmed, as the Mexican moves up to the Formula 1 feeder series with the Lotus ART outfit.

Gutiérrez enjoyed strong form across the GP3 season, with the 19-year-old having picked up the title at Monza in September.

“It will be a very interesting season and I am delighted to continue my career with Lotus ART because they are definitely one of the best racing teams,” said the Monterrey-born driver.

“GP2 is a new exciting challenge with long races and pit-stops as well as tyre management. There are a lot of new parameters that I will have to learn to cope but with Lotus ART I am in the best school possible.

“I will do my best to make things run smoothly and hopefully I will have a good debut season.”
