Aleshin returns to Carlin for Turkey
4 May 2011 – Russia’s Mikhail Aleshin has made a brief Carlin comeback for the opening two GP2 rounds in Istanbul this weekend. The Formula Renault 3.5 Champion had been set to compete with the team for the entire 2011 season, but was forced to pull out last month due to financial struggles.
Although his future remains unknown, the 23-year-old from Moscow – who had aimed for a Formula 1 seat this season - is satisfied with the temporary arrangement.
“It's a great opportunity for me to do this race,” he commented. “I would like to say a big thank you to the team for giving me this chance.
“I have a good feeling about this track; I had my first podium here with Carlin and I'm sure we will be pushing hard to repeat that experience again this year.”
