Ceccon stands in for injured Rigon

18 May 2011

Scuderia Coloni has confirmed that Italy’s Kevin Ceccon will be making his GP2 debut in Barcelona this weekend, deputising for compatriot Davide Rigon who was injured at the season-opening meeting last time out.

After colliding with Julián Leal on Istanbul Park’s start/finish straight, Superleague Champion Rigon’s car was speared into the pit wall, fracturing a leg of the driver. This forced surgery in Istanbul as the rest of the paddock began to travel home.

17-year-old Ceccon now makes his debut alongside Michael Herck, having already tested with the team in Abu Dhabi last November. Team Principal Paolo Coloni has also confirmed that Ceccon will be racing with the team for the Spa rounds in August.
