Esteban Gutiérrez earned his first GP2 victory at the Valencia Street Circuit on Sunday, taking full advantage of a mistake by Josef Král who started the race from pole position. After pulling away at the front of the field, The ART driver ultimately crossed the line 12.9 seconds ahead of Luiz Razia, while Giedo van der Garde completed the podium.

There was drama for Romain Grosjean just moments into the race, as the DAMS driver lost control of his car at Turn 5, bringing out the Safety Car when he was hit by Rodolfo Gonzalez and Charles Pic. Gutiérrez slipped past Král at the restart, with Dani Clos and seventh place starter van der Garde also getting ahead of the Czech soon after.

Van der Garde went on to pass Clos for the final spot on the podium, while Davide Valsecchi also launched a successful attack on the Spaniard in the closing stages to take fourth. Clos held on for fifth at the chequered flag, fending off Romania's Michael Herck who had to settle for one point after a hotly contested last lap.

Jules Bianchi fought back from 24th on the grid, crossing the line just outside the points in seventh. The Frenchman received a penalty for causing an accident during yesterday's Feature Race, adding to his early-season troubles. Despite his first lap crash, Grosjean holds onto the championship lead, one point ahead of van der Garde.
