Addax driver Charles Pic has grabbed his fourth GP2 pole position for Saturday’s Feature Race at Monza. The 21-year-old Frenchman will share the front row with practice pace-setter Luca Filippi. Jules Bianchi and Giedo van der Garde, contesting the championship runner-up spot, could only manage lowly 19th and 20th places.

Pic laid down the benchmark with a lap time of 1:32.349, edging out the leading Italian by just over a tenth of a second. Fabio Leimer mustered third ahead of Álvaro Parente and Champion Romain Grosjean, who completed the top five, but all three drivers ran wide in the final minutes.

Behind the pair of Racing Engineering cars, British representatives Carroll, Bird and Chilton occupy positions eight to ten. At the back of the grid, there was fury for van der Garde which continued via his personal Twitter account, as the both the Dutchman and French rival Bianchi struggled to find a clear track.

Saturday’s Feature Race begins at 3:40pm local time (BST +1)
