Rossi to test AirAsia GP2 car

27 September 2011

The AirAsia GP2 team has confirmed that Formula Renault 3.5 front-runner Alexander Rossi, who is currently fourth in the championship, will be testing for the Tony Fernandes-owned squad during the Jerez test session which starts on Wednesday.

“I would like to thank Tony, Kamarudin, SM Nasarudin and Riad Asmat for giving me this opportunity with Caterham Team AirAsia,” says 19-year-old Californian Rossi, who currently resides in Italy and will be testing alongside António Félix da Costa of Portugal, Yelmer Buurman of The Netherlands and Ricardo Teixeira of Mexico.

“I am very excited about working with a team who I have seen progress throughout the 2011 GP2 season from literally nothing to a race-winning squad who mirror the professionalism, passion and commitment their colleagues in Team Lotus bring to work every day.

“I will do my best to absorb as much as I can and repay the faith the Team Lotus shareholders have shown in me by doing the best job I possibly can over the four days on track.”

Also confirmed is the line-up for Scuderia Coloni, who will be running Luca Filippi plus fellow Italian countrymen Kevin Ceccon and Fabio Onidi in the south of Spain.
